CHALLENGE

The Challenge: Essential research hiding behind outdated design

The PRIDE Study conducts groundbreaking research on LGBTQ+ health and wellness. Their work is vital—filling massive gaps in health data that have left our community underserved for decades. But their digital presence told a different story. The current platform looked dated and felt disconnected from the vibrant, diverse community it serves. Participants, partners, and supporters couldn't see themselves reflected in the experience nor were they returning to the site after logging in once. For research this important, the interface needed to match the mission: accessible, and the site need to encourage people to fill out more studies.

APPROACH

Encouragement and impact led increased use

We began by deeply understanding the LGBTQ+ community's needs through extensive research and collaboration with The PRIDE Study. Our goal was to create a modern, credible research tool that felt inclusive, not clinical. We developed a points and rewards system to acknowledge participants' contributions and show the social impact of their data, encouraging greater engagement.

OUTCOME

Research platform that honors community authenticity

The modernized PRIDE Study platform now reflects the community it serves—authentic LGBTQ+ representation without tokenism, streamlined user experience without sacrificing depth. Participants can engage with groundbreaking research through an interface that feels designed for them. By centering community voices throughout the design process, we created more than a visual update. We built a platform that makes essential health research accessible and welcoming, ensuring The PRIDE Study can continue serving the LGBTQ+ community for years to come with tools that match the importance of their mission.
