Connecting voters with gun safety champions in every election

CHALLENGE

Complex policy meets local voting decisions

Most Americans support common-sense gun safety measures. But when election day comes, they don't know which candidates actually champion these policies. Gun safety advocacy gets lost in the noise of campaign season, especially in local races where information is hardest to find. Everytown for Gun Safety knew their Gun Sense Voter platform could bridge this gap—connecting the growing majority who want change with candidates who will deliver it. But the 2024 election cycle demanded more than updates. They needed a complete evolution that could cut through political complexity and activate real voter engagement.

APPROACH

From information hub to action platform

We transformed Gun Sense Voter from a resource site into an engagement engine. The redesign prioritized accessibility and action—making it easy for any voter to find their candidates and understand their positions on gun safety. The real challenge was technical. The organization had to integrate with a voter database, candidate data, a CRM, and an email and text message application. We built the integrations around detailed user workflows working together with four partners. The platform now serves all 50 states and DC, covering elections from school boards to the White House.

OUTCOME

Mobilizing the majority through informed action

Gun Sense Voter simplifies complex gun policy and provides a voting plan tool, increasing voter participation. Our platform connects voters' concerns about gun violence to specific candidates and elections, mobilizing action for policy change.
