about

Greetings and salutations! Before you dive into my capabilities, past experience and fervor for all things breakfast, let me lend a few lines to the man behind the pixels.

I am a guy who likes to understand things. So, whether I am analyzing why a photo says a certain thing, explaining the subtle difference between stupid and clever or just figuring out why everyone is so fascinated by cute cats with type over them, I like to think about why things are the way they are. After all, you can't tell anyone anything good if you don't understand what you're about to say.

Great work to me, is about more than 'making things look good.' I truly believe work has to be smart first. Everything from the pyramids to the second mini cooper campaign have shown exactly that. Pretty things might turn a head or two, but smart things become a part of culture.

Lastly, ideas evolve just like any species, except much faster. While one solution might work now, there is always room from improvement in the future. I strive to make sure my work knows how to grow, even if it has to shed its tail.

From bernaise sauce to banner ads that is how approach my work. Feel free to venture onto to my portfolio or credentials to see how. However, if you want even more, below are answers to a few questions I receive most often...

FAQs

What's with the toy soldier(s)?

No, it's not a homage to the Toy Story anthology or a desperate attempt to hold onto my childhood. I once read an article explaining how Japan's WWII generals were placed in C-suite positions shortly after their surrender. So, I figured if a mid-century Japanese industrialist hailed from the bridge of a destroyer, I am, at very least, a toy soldier.

You're a morning person?!?

Guilty as charged. After years of working for a creative director who started his day at 5am to hit the 5pm train home, I adjusted to a work schedule that mimics most donut shop owners.

What are your cultural commodities of choice?

My interests hail from a suburban upbringing turned tragically emo hipster. (Read: Morrissey, Ska-pop and Rocky Horror Picture Show). Thankfully, my college and professional life allowed me to experience more mature things like biomorphic Scandinavian furniture, impromptu Top Chef parties, running, Wes Anderson movies and the occasional 19th century period piece.
